Beatrix Potter is in the mail!!

The grass is turning green, and the snow doesn't stick anymore!!  I've seen more tulips budding than I can count!  I don't know why, but I didn't notice any of these spring-time miracles happening until today.   I am SO excited!

This Friday, I'm expecting one of the most exciting packages I have ever received.  I finally found my favorite books that I grew up reading!!  I've never been able to buy this set for myself, because it costs hundreds of dollars.  I finally found the 24 book set SO CHEAP, at a fraction of the cost!  I was able to buy the books with part of a surprise scholarship that popped up on my school account.  I just remember how magical these little books were for me and my siblings, and I'm thrilled that I can share them with our children!! :)
We have decided that the most valuable "things" that we can give our children are books.  I have started searching for my favorites throughout the years, and so far, I have a nice little collection started!  A lot of my favorite books are either out of print now, or VERY pricey, because of their "classic" nature.  Frankly, I don't recall all of the titles, just the stories!!  I'll have to pow-wow with my siblings and cousins to see if they remember the names of the books we read......

A list of my VERY favorite childhood stories:

x  Beatrix Potter Peter Rabbit Books
-(especially The Tale of Two Bad Mice, about Hunca
Munca!  I named my hamster after that mouse...)
x  The Cat Who Wore A Pot On Her Head (Bendemolina)
x  Little Black Sambo
x  Dark Pony (I still haven't figured out if that was a real
book or just a story Grandma told me at bedtime...)
x  Socks for Supper
x  Paddington Bear Series
x  Dr. Suess, of course!
x  Little Red Hen

Tell me if you have any favorites that you would recommend so I can keep an eye out for them at yard sales!

Dear Jaimee
I've got some books I'd like to recommend (can you sing that? it's perfect!)

I'm in children's lit (which is a class you would LOVE) so I have tons of booklists.

But, for your little girl,

The Paper Bag Princess by Robert Munsch.

It's essential.

YAY for blogs!!!! You finally took my advice, I see. Good girl. Now, just keep it updated!!! hahaha. Like I do so great at that. LOL. But I'll keep my eyes peeled for some of those "classics" in my shopping around. There are a couple of great used bookstores around here. **HUGS**
