Apostles & Antiquities

This has been one of the best weeks. Yesterday, after singing in Devotional with the choir, I got to shake Elder Russel M. Nelson's hand. My first time being within arm's reach of a general authority. It was an amazing experience. He gave a fantastic talk - one that I have needed to hear for a very long time. He helped me realize that I'm doing what I'm supposed to, going to school full time.

"...Education is a religious responsibility. The glory of God is intelligence. Your personal intelligence, your personal identity, is everlasting and divine."

"Your mind is precious. It is sacred. Therefore the education of your mind is also sacred. Indeed, education is a religious responsibility."

"In the pursuit of one's education, individual desire is more important than is the institution you choose, and personal drive is more significant than is the faculty. Our creator expects his children everywhere to gain an education as a perso
nal endeavor. He issued this commandment: 'Seek ye diligently and teach one another words of wisdom. Yea, seek ye out of the best books words of wisdom. Seek learning, even by study and also by faith.' "

"The Lord has declared, the knowledge you acquire here will rise with you in the resurrection. In light of this celestial perspective, if you impulsively drop out or otherwise cut short your education, you would not only disregard a divine decree, but also abbreviate your own eternal potential. Each one of you may have had or will yet have your own personal day of commitment; your own scholastic Sacred Grove equivalent..."

This morning, I woke up to breakfast in bed, and a snuggly Carter while Steve gave me a foot rub. What kind of perfect husband does that?!

I have made some of THE MOST exciting purchases this week.....I have been looking for an old vintage arm chair (preferrably bright green) for a very long time. I had been looking in newspaper ads, and checking little antique shops. I found plenty of chairs that I could buy.....if I were Bill Gates. But lo, I am not. I walked into DI, and there it was. A perfect lime green chair in all it's glory, sitting amongst broken toys and nasty couches. I was so scared to look at the price, expecting three figures...The chair, AND this old chest were $25. SCORE! I danced out of the store, singing at the top of my lungs, while Steve and the manager laughed and shook their heads.

He LOVES this fabric for some reason....it must be the outlandish color....

I love the way Carter looks up to his daddy.

He tried to bite the chest. That darn metal bit him right back...How rude.

He kept pushing his hat up and posing like he's a Keebler Elf or a Smurf.
